Cosmology
Research at Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics covers a wide area of observational and theoretical research in cosmology and gravitational physics.
- Observational CMB - the study of fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background, which allows us to probe the Universe at early times and make deductions about fundamental processes in cosmology
- Theoretical cosmology - the investigation of physical and mathematical models of the early Universe
- Gravitational lensing - the study of multiple images produced by gravitational bending of light, which gives probes of light and dark matter distributions in galaxies and clusters
