Welcome to the STFC Introductory Summer School in Astronomy 2017, hosted by The University of Manchester's Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics

This Summer School is aimed at STFC-funded postgraduate students who will be beginning their PhD studies in astronomy in the Autumn of 2017. A programme of lectures will provide you with a comprehensive  overview of astrophysics topics from Solar System and planetary physics, through stars and galaxies, and on to cosmology.

Students attending this school will experience the full breadth of the UK’s multi-wavelength and multi-messenger astronomy programme. In addition, there will be sessions on PhD skills, outreach, diversity & career planning... plus a lively programme of social events.

This course is free of charge to STFC-sponsored and self-supporting students.
