Our public engagement and work with schools and colleges are very important to us. We carry out a wide range of activities across all our research areas, reflecting the strong public interest in our work and in line with our aim of inspiring the next generation of scientists.

If you want to learn more about astronomy and in particular the research we do here in Manchester and at Jodrell Bank then visit our Discovery Centre at Jodrell Bank Observatory. We organise events ranging from star parties to public lectures in the Lovell Lecture series.

The Discovery Centre also has an extensive educational programme for schools.

The Jodcast is a podcast or on-line radio show by astronomers at Jodrell Bank including the latest news, what is in the sky this month, interviews with guest astronomers and anything else we can think of!

The Earth and Beyond section of the Children's University of Manchester website includes a range of interactives designed to teach basic astronomy concepts including day and night, the planets, and phases of the Moon.
