A few frequently asked questions:
When is ISS 2019?
ISS 2019 runs for two weeks, from the 7th of July 2019 until the 20th of July 2019. As you will be travelling to and from the UK, this may mean you fly out of the UK on the 6th of July 2019 and land on the 21st of July 2019.
Where will I be staying?
All the ISS students and staff stay together in boarding school accommodation, a short bus ride away from the University of Sydney. It’s on the edge of beautiful Sydney Harbour, and the views are amazing! The rooms are shared (2-4 people) so you’ll have a chance to get to know some new friends from around the world. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided each day.
Does the ISS take place during the school term?
It depends on where you live — ISS2019 runs from the 7th to the 20th July 2019; it’s the school holidays in Sydney, but that’s not necessarily true in your part of the world. So your school and your parents/guardians must approve your absence for the duration of your program.
It the ISS really free?!
In a word: Yes! All accommodation, meals and activities are provided by the ISS organisers and the University of Sydney. Travel to Sydney from a major airport in the UK is also provided.
Will I be properly supervised and cared for?
Absolutely! We take student welfare, safety and happiness very seriously. A team of experienced ISS staff will supervise and mentor students at all times, with two highly experienced House Parents on-call day and night. A high school teacher from Greater Manchester will be selected to accompany the selected UK students on their trip to Australia, and throughout the ISS.
